ISLAMABAD - The Honorable Amina Hassan Sheikh, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and President of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the Punjab Assembly, paid a courtesy call on the Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, today at the Philippine Embassy. Ms. Sheikh was accompanied by veteran Pakistani journalist Mr. Ehtisham Ul Haq during the meeting. In their discussions, Ms. Sheikh and Ambassador Fernandez explored ways to promote collaboration between the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and the Philippine Embassy, particularly through the Young Parliamentarians Forum. Topics included potential student and educational exchanges, cultural exposure programs, and strengthening trade relations between the two countries. Ms. Sheikh also highlighted her advocacy for women empowerment, an area in which Ambassador Fernandez expressed strong personal commitment. The Ambassador welcomed future collaboration with Ms. Sheikh on this important issue, noting the shared values between the Philippines and Pakistan in advancing inclusive leadership and gender equality. The meeting reflects the Ambassador's keen interest in deepening people-to-people ties and institutional cooperation between Pakistan's provinces and the Philippines. |
