PH EMBASSY EXPLORES DEEPER ENGAGEMENT WITH RAWALPINDI BUSINESS COMMUNITY

RAWALPINDI, 16 September 2025 - In a bid to strengthen economic ties and open new avenues for collaboration, a high-level delegation from the Embassy of the Philippines in Islamabad visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) for a dynamic and engaging session with key members of Rawalpindi's vibrant business community.

Led by H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Ambassador of the Philippines to Pakistan, the delegation included Mr. Juan Paolo G. Alix, First Secretary and Consul, and Mr. Shujaat Ali Umer, Information and Economic Assistant at the Embassy. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment, foster B2B connections, and lay the groundwork for long-term economic cooperation.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Usman Shaukat, President of RCCI, along with Mr. Khalid Farooq Qazi, Senior Vice President, and Mr. Fahad Barlas, Vice President. The meeting was attended by prominent local businessmen and businesswomen from a wide array of sectors.

In his welcome address, President Usman Shaukat highlighted the scale and diversity of RCCI's membership, noting that it is the third-largest chamber in Pakistan, representing over 15,000 businesses across key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, import/export, poultry, veterinary medicine, food, and tourism.

Ambassador Fernandez expressed his appreciation for RCCI's hospitality and enthusiasm for collaboration. He shared insights into the many advantages of doing business with the Philippines, including its strategic location in the ASEAN region, access to a massive market of over 680 million consumers, a business-friendly environment, and a highly skilled, English-speaking workforce.

"The Philippines offers vast untapped potential for trade partnerships," said Ambassador Fernandez. "By leveraging our respective strengths, we can significantly boost our trade volumes and create win-win outcomes for both our nations."

During the lively Q&A session, participants explored potential areas for joint ventures and mutual growth, especially in the pharmaceutical and tourism sectors. The importance of exchange visits, trade delegations, and business networking was also emphasized.

The session concluded with a warm exchange of thanks and a shared commitment to continue deepening economic engagement between the Philippines and Rawalpindi's business community. Both sides agreed to maintain momentum through regular dialogue and result-oriented collaboration.
